Bijlmer Olympics 2028
Olympic Games as image changing mechanism.
The image-determining power of the Olympic Games is unique. The "Nazi Olympics" (1936) and Summer Games in Beijing (2008) illustrate the influence of architecture on the changing image quality. To date, this quality primarily is deployed to a national interest.
The Amsterdam ambition of organizing the Summer of 2028 on the one hand and the somewhat conservative attitude of the Dutch people on the other hand, requires a well-considered approach.
As opposed to the more regionally-oriented-Amsterdam ArenA in this scenario the public system of Amsterdam South ended with a habitable post-Olympic stadium. The "Bijlmer Oasis" is shaped by personal qualities, driven by post-Olympic preconditions. The gravel of the track gives way to grass with pinstripes. At this public Olympic legacy are public and commercial gardens, parks, playgrounds and sports facilities.
