Het Nieuwe Noord, Hoofddorp
‘Het Nieuwe Noord’ transforms; the times of light industry and lack of occupancy make room for living in climate adaptive buildings among car free courtyards.
Together with Architectuurcentrale Thijs Asselbergs and VLUGP, vanOmmeren-architecten design the urban framework, in which 550-600 dwellings are proposed for this area. The framework builds on the current structural vision of the municipality for the urban development of this area.
The residential buildings will be positioned on either side of a new green urban axis in Hoofddorp Noord. This new zone facilitates car free circulation and recreation.
The positioning of the buildings (and entrances) in relation to this green urban axis pursues to:
- collectivize the public space, in which every courtyard defines its own character.
- clarify the distinction in space for: residents, visitors and passers-by.
- optimize the buildings (with its private exterior space) regarding light, wind, sound and parking.
The architectural design for the residential buildings will be further developed by three design teams: Architectuurcentrale Thijs Asselbergs and vanOmmeren-architecten, Koolstra&Partners and Evers&Partners, ENZO architecten.
