Located on the junction between national park Zuid-Kennemerland, the ruins of Brederode and a protected meadow bird breeding park will rise a visually striking villa.
The old rundown greenhouse complex will make room for three ground floor volumes.
With a contemporary approach in mind, the genius loci of the agricultural location was emulated.
Our client, family Van der Meijde, asked VO-a to design modest and thoughtful detailing for their soon to be home.
The archetypical roof contour of the volumes refers to the former agricultural buildings on the site. The end walls of the extruded contours are transparent and placed in an alternating pattern. The surrounding meadow landscape and the adjacent cultivated garden stand out due to the modest architecture.
