For a selection(by invitation) in collaboration with Ton Voets and Erik Wolsky a social and healthcare vision is made for elderly in Abtswoude, Delft(NL).
The new urban layout of Abtswoude is an open building block. Unlike the universal oriented flats in the area, there is a clear contrast between the inside and the outside world. The green and active heart is enclosed with facilities and housing. The small-scale living is situated on the main road to guarantee a healthy space for shelter, green and the outdoor areas of care apartments
All public services are located on a dry, barrier-free roundwalk. This ‘colonade’ forms a connection between the housing and the amenities.
The group homes have a shared winter garden. This winter gardens have an open relation with the green and ensure that the disabled residents can experience the activity at the ground level.
